Celebrating 100 Years of Excellence:
The legend known as Evinrude, manufacturer of award-winning outboard engines, began humbly 100 years ago in 1909. As Evinrude tells it, "a century has passed since Ole Evinrude paddled across a Wisconsin lake, battling the hot summer sun to fetch ice cream for his love. The melted dessert left Evinrude with a disappointed fiance ..." but it led to Ole Evinrude building the first marine outboard engine. Since then, Evinrude has continued to build quality marine motors that today rank highest in customer satisfaction surveys.
In 2009 the Evinrude E-TEC outboard engines were ranked highest in customer satisfaction with two-stroke outboard engines in the J.D. Power and Associates 2009 Marine Engine Competitive Information Study. This marks the third time that Evinrude E-TEC engines have been ranked highest in customer satisfaction in the study. Previously, Evinrude ranked highest in 2003 and 2007, when Evinrude ranked highest in a tie.
Evinrude is owned by Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), a privately-held company that designs, develops, manufactures, distributes and markets motorized recreational vehicles. BRP brands and products includes: Ski-Doo watercraft and sport boats, Evinrude and Johnson outboard engines, and direct injection technologies such as E-TEC.
