The Playpen, which offers boaters a sweeping view of the Chicago skyline, has long been a favorite spot for recreational boaters to enjoy Lake Michigan boating. In August, however, this area of the lake will become a sea of boats rafted together in what the Chicago Sun-Times calls "a floating Mardi Gras," and what the New York Times says is "a ticket to 'Girls Gone Wild' come to life."
The 8th Annual Chicago Scene Boat Party attracted 50 boats its first year. The floating party quickly gained popularity and grew last year to 500 boats. Even more are expected to attend this year on August 2, 2008.
If a wet and wild boat party is your type of fun, this may be one boat festival you won't want to miss.
