As winter makes way for spring, I find my thoughts headed south to the latitudes of the West Indies, the Caribbean Sea. I credit Mad Mariner's recent article about cruising the Caribbean with whetting my appetite for the warm, crystal waters. Before reading it, I probably would have been content with Florida's breezy 80 degree days. Who can complain about that? Still, nothing quite matches the Caribbean to put a song in the soul of a boater.
As winter begins to fade, and warm weather teases us with the promise of the summer boating season, have you ever thought about cruising the Caribbean? If you have, but don't know where to start, I recommend a great book called "An Embarrassment of Mangoes." The book is about the sailing adventures of a Canadian couple who took two years off from hectic careers to pursue their dream of sailing the Caribbean. Even if cruising the Caribbean is not in your future, it's a great read.
How about you? Have you ever cruised the Caribbean or have aspirations toward that end? Leave a comment, or join us for the discussion in the Powerboating Forum.
