Sea Ray Boat Production Slows
Production on Sea Ray boats will slow this year in an effort to reduce expenses through up to 300 job eliminations at the Riverview facility near Knoxville, TN. Sea Ray, which is owned by Brunswick, will also stop production for one week each month through June in its Tennessee and Florida plants. "In addition to ending production at the Riverview plant, Brunswick plans to reduce up to 275 positions throughout its Sea Ray manufacturing and product development segment and at Sea Ray's Knoxville headquarters by Friday," according to a Business Week article.

Sea Ray at Vonroe has lied to so many former employees. They have told them their jobs was going to there after summer break and laid off 150 when they come back. They told them they would pay their insurance for them during the furlow. So instead of knowing the truth they where lied too, giving a false sense of security and making people not look for a new job and new insurance for their familes. Sea Ray is dirty and a bunch of liers. Economic times are tough, but lieing to the people that built these boats so they can have offices full of people who never lift a finger to do anything except have sex with other employess while boats are being built downstairs by hardworking honest people. All the people cheating on their spouses upstairs get to keep their jobs, (for now anyway). This is one company that dosn’t reward hard work unless you are working hard under the right desk. I wished I would have stood up for my rights when I had a chance to.
I am totally disgusted that the boats are being moved back to Florida. Sea Ray transferred so many families from there homes in the Merritt Island, FL area up to Knoxville, TN to work on these boats. Now, most of them have been laid off and the boats they are working on are being sent back to Florida. However, none of the employees that were transferred will be sent back to Florida to work on these boats. Most of these families still own houses down there and are relocating back down there on there own, but they still won’t be called back at the Florida plants. Sea Ray paid for these families to move to Tennesse, most of them had spouses that needed to quite there jobs and find new jobs up there. When they got up there they were laid off for a month almost immediately (month of July). Then they were furloughed on Oct. 26 until Jan. 6. Then as soon as they go back they are told the boat they have worked on for the last 3,5,10,15 years is getting sent back to Florida and they are all being laid off. What kind of a company does that to there committed, hard working employees. I’m glad all of the employees in Flagler will have jobs, just remember the boats being transferred there were originally being built at the Merritt Island Plant.
