For Winter Boating Fun, Join the Local Holiday Boat Parade

Friday December 12, 2008

Think lights and decorations are just for your home this holiday season? Think again. A great way to include your favorite hobby in your festivities is to join the local boat parade during the holidays. Deck your boat with lights, garland, wreaths, ribbons and bows and get underway for a night of fun on the water that spreads holiday cheer.

Not sure how to get involved? Check your local newspaper and television websites for possible announcements of dates and times. You can also call your local marinas yacht clubs and inquire whether a boat parade is scheduled. Finally, if you have a Coast Guard station near you, chances are they will be participating in the boat parade and can give you dates and times.

Dear Erica:

Merry Christmas and a happy new year. I hear you about the boat lights and the parades and all. The only problem for me is the weather, it’s usually cold, and I am a cold weather wimp.
Other than that, they are great to see from the shore if someone else is willing to get cold.
peace and all good things
